 The student Historical Society presents:

History Happy Hour: 4:30-7 at the GCSU Backlot on Wednesday March 29th. We will be having free pizza!! Great opportunity for students/faculty to relax for a couple of hours as the end of classes near and exams approach!!

 

 

Corner Brook Public Library – GO Engagement Lecture Series

Dr. Rainer Baehre will present a lecture titled  "Crow Gulch: Symbol of Mi'kmaq History" on Wednesday, March 1, at 6:45 p.m. at the Corner Brook Public Library.

L'Elisir d'Amore

(The Elixir of Love)

Let's have some fun!  This is a charming comic opera about a man who is deeply in love with the woman of his dreams; he is helped by a quack doctor who provides him with a magical elixir of love.  We will be watching the production staged by the Metropolitan Opera, with Luciano Pavarotti and Kathleen Battle in the title roles (DVD screening; Italian with English subtitles).

Sunday, March 5th, 2017; 7:00p.m.  Forestry Centre FC2014 (Grenfell Campus, MUN).  An opera summary and introduction (along with refreshments) will be provided.  Admission is free.  For more information, contact Edwin Bezzina (637-2191).

The Historical Studies Program and the Grenfell Opera Series present:

Alceste

Now we are sampling some later eighteenth-century opera!  This opera is based on the classical Greek play by Euripides and revolves around the themes of love and sacrifice. We will be watching the contemporary adaptation from the Stuttgart Opera (DVD screening; French with English subtitles).
