Nathan Elliott's dissertation, defended at the University of Notre Dame in 2006, discussed the intersection between emerging nineteenth-century biological disciplines and Romantic-era and Victorian literature. He has published scholarly work on the playwright Joanna Baillie, the novelist Charlotte Bronte, and the poet Gerard Manley Hopkins. His immediate objects of scholarly interest are H.G. Wells and Octavia Butler. Recently he also started experimenting with the genre of creative nonfiction; in the past year (2015-2016) he published pieces in the literary magazines Creative Nonfiction and the Tahoma Literary Review. Currently he is at work on a book about his immigration experience.
