Assistant Professor  -  Visual Arts

Profile

Ingrid's creative practice is interdisciplinary in nature: she has used performance, video, installation, drawing, sculpture, and other media, to deconstruct some of the conventions and conceptual concerns of Painting. Her work often engages in a discourse between modernist abstraction, feminism and everyday life, employing materials and subject matter from the larger world around her.

Ingrid believes that academics should contribute to the communities in which they live and work and to this end has served on the Board of Open Space in Victoria, BC, Eastern Edge Gallery in St. John's, NL, and Visual Artists Newfoundland and Labrador (VANL-CARFAC). Currently, she is President of Canadian Artists' Representation/Le Front des artistes canadiens (CARFAC) National, the voice for professional artists in Canada.
