Ongoing sustainability activities

There are many activities ongoing on campus that support Grenfell's sustainability platform:

 

  • Academic programming: Environmental studies, sustainable resource management, environmental science and the master's in environmental policy
  • Research: A diverse group of staff, faculty and students engaging in sustainability and climate-change oriented research.
  • Environmental Policy Institute: producing research on various topics, such as climate change in Newfoundland and Labrador, rural development and business innovation
  • Grenfell's Sustainability Committee: re-established in February 2016; comprises representatives from faculty, staff and students. Three areas of priority: waste management, energy and education and awareness.
  • Sustainability audit
  • Energy audit (Honeywell)
  • GCSU Environmental Affairs Committee: Farmer's Feast, Get Out Get Green, bottled water ban
  • Community garden
  • Paper recycling program
  • Paperless pay stubs, electronic forms etc.
  • Default double-sided printing
