 Bomb Threat

A bomb threat is generally defined as a verbal or written threat to detonate an explosive device to cause property damage or injuries, whether or not such a device actually exists.

Bomb threats usually occur by telephone but can be received through other means, such as email or suspicious package. It is important to compile as much information as possible (see bomb threat checklist). All bomb threats are to be taken seriously.

In the event of the receipt of a bomb threat or the discovery of a suspicious object or substance, notify the Campus Enforcement and Patrol (CEP) ext. 2888 for on campus and 9-637-2888 off campus and Emergency Services 911. Please provide as much detail as possible.

  • Pay attention to details and note any background noise, distinctive sounds or characteristics of the caller’s voice:

    • Approximate Age
    • Background noises (machinery, traffic, television, other voices, music, etc.).
