Grenfell Campus is located in Newfoundland and Labrador, the eastern-most province of Canada. The province is comprised of the island of Newfoundland and the mainland portion, Labrador. The population of approximately half a million people is spread out over a large geographical area. The province is almost one and three quarters times the size of Great Britain. Our province is known for friendly, welcoming people and a clean and healthy environment.
Corner Brook is located on the west coast of the island portion of Newfoundland and Labrador. Over 42,000 people reside in the Corner Brook region, with 22,000 in the city.
There are a lot of things to see and do in Corner Brook. Grenfell Campus is just minutes away from alpine skiing at Marble Mountain, cross country skiing, golfing, snowmobiling, hiking, and kayaking. The spectacular scenery of Gros Morne National Park, a United Nations World Heritage Site, is about an hour away by car.
The climate of Corner Brook is well suited to a wide variety of outdoor activities. Summers are warm but not too hot – in July temperatures usually range between 21 and 27 °C. Winters are very snowy, with temperatures ranging from 0 to -20 °C. Residents of Corner Brook tend to be winter enthusiasts and embrace the snow by taking part in various outdoor activities like skiing, skating and tobogganing. The key to enjoying our winter is to get involved and dress appropriately! You’ll want to pack clothing for all four seasons; we get a taste of every kind of weather in Newfoundland and Labrador – snow, rain, fog and sunshine!

The closest airport to Corner Brook is Deer Lake Airport (code YDF), located about 30 minutes outside the city. Shuttle services and rental car agencies operate out of Deer Lake Airport.
Grenfell Campus offers a free airport pick-up service to all students new to our campus. If you require transportation from the Deer Lake airport, please forward your flight information to our Student Services office and a Grenfell representative will personally meet you at the airport.
