Geography 1000 - Introduction to Physical Geography - is a first year course required for all upper level courses in geography and environmental studies. It is also recommended for students interested in environmental science or anyone else interested in understanding basic earth surface and atmospheric processes. Normally many students will also take Geography 1001 - Introduction to Human Geography - which is normally offered in the winter semester. It is also required to students planning on taking advanced courses in Geography or Environmental Studies. Together, the 2 first year geography courses provide the student with an idea of the range of topics comprising the varied field of geography.
