 Duncan A. Ferguson

Duncan Ferguson (1944-2006)

B.A., M.A., PhD (Western Ontario); Associate Professor

Duncan was born in London, Ontario, on August 26, 1944, to Dr. Duncan D. Ferguson, a medical specialist in TB and chest diseases, and his wife, Fern MacVicar Ferguson, a registered nurse. He grew up in central London where he developed many friendships that remained important to him throughout his life. Although he was an only child, he relished the relationships he had with his older first cousins in nearby St. Thomas and in the United States. After attending elementary and secondary schools in London, he entered the University of Western Ontario, graduating in 1976 with a PhD in Social Psychology. In 1970, he married Euna MacRae of Arva, near London, and they have one child, a daughter Meghan, born in 1979. Following graduation, Duncan took a position as Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department of the newly formed Sir Wilfred Grenfell College of Memorial University in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. His career there spanned the next 30 years, during which he became Associate Professor and, at various times, Chair of the Psychology Program.
