Grenfell Gives 2018
There's no place like home. That's what Dorothy said.
Many of you may already know Rachel Gilbert, a student from Houston, Texas (not Kansas!) with Newfoundland roots, who's a real life Dorothy: She rediscovered "home" to learn a whole lot more about who she is and where she's going. After spending two years at St. John's campus, Rachel clicked her heels and made the excellent decision to come to Grenfell Campus to pursue a degree in Visual Arts. Since then, she's received the Dr. John Ashton Travel Award: she will use the funds to travel to Harlow Campus in January 2019 to complete three art history courses. Without receiving support like this, Rachel said she would not be able to afford the semester in the UK to experience all that Harlow has to offer.
For students like Rachel, Grenfell Campus is their home away from home while pursuing their education and focusing on their futures. You can help to make that possible and thank you to many of you for your support last year! Gifts from faculty and staff, of more than $7,000 last year for Grenfell student scholarships is making a real difference to our students.
Again this year, we are encouraging faculty and staff to consider supporting Grenfell's students by contributing to the area of your choice, or to the Grenfell Campus Scholarship Fund, the SASS entrance scholarship, or the newly established Graduate Student Emergency Loan Fund. You may also choose to make a gift in memory of a family member, friend or colleague, or to support an already established scholarship: www.grenfell.mun.ca/scholarships.
Supporting our students financially comes in all shapes and sizes: scholarships, awards, bursaries and prizes, or support for capital projects and equipment.
But one thing remains constant - your gift allows students to attend Grenfell Campus and make it their home. Your gift can be established and supported through payroll deduction, an annual prize or scholarship or a longer term endowed fund.
For more information, to discuss your gift or to create an award, please contact Laura Edwards, Director of Marketing, Communications and Advancement at firstname.lastname@example.org or 637-7331.
100% of your gifts go directly to support Grenfell students. If you make your gift before Dec. 31, you'll receive a tax receipt for 2018.
