▼ Can I take part in the Intensive English Program at Grenfell Campus in order to meet the necessary language requirements for final admission to a graduate program?
If you are interested in pursuing a graduate degree upon completion of the Intensive English Program at Grenfell Campus, I would encourage you to contact the School of Graduate Studies at
sgs@mun.ca. You should ask them if your preferred school and degree program are willing to offer provisional acceptance on the condition of completing the Intensive English Program at Grenfell (IEP-G). If you are eligible for provisional acceptance to your selected degree program, on the condition of completing the Intensive English Program at Grenfell, you should then apply to IEP-G. We would be able to offer you final acceptance to the program and you would be able to demonstrate a longterm study plan, using IEP-G as a pathway to further study. If you apply only to IEP-G, without provisional acceptance to another degree program, you would be applying only to IEP-G as a standalone program, with no assurance of further study upon completion of IEP-G.
▼ How long will I need to study in the Intensive English Programs at Grenfell Campus before proceeding into my degree program?
The answer to this question depends on many variables, such as your score at the time of intake as well as your dedication and level of engagement in the program. At the end of each semester, all students are assessed on whether or not they meet the necessary exit requirements to complete the program and proceed to their degree program.
▼ I do not have a scorecard from a language proficiency test such as TOEFL, IELTS, or the Duolingo English Test. Can I still apply?
Without a standardized proficiency test score, you would only be eligible for our non-credit-bearing Intensive English Program at Grenfell (IEP-G) and not our credit-bearing Intensive English Bridge Program at Grenfell (IEBP-G). In this case, we will also request some sort of background information about your previous English language study.
