Technical Director – Theatre


Jim received a Diploma in Theatre Arts from Niagara College of Applied Arts & Technology in 1974 and spent 22 years working in professional theatre and the entertainment business before coming to the Theatre Program at Grenfell Campus in 1996. He worked for many years at Theatre New Brunswick as a lighting and sound technician, set and props builder, stage manager and production manager. During the 1980's he also operated his own company, Professional Stage Services providing equipment and production to theatres and entertainment events. From 1990 to 1996, Jim was the production manager for Magnus Theatre in Thunder Bay. He has designed lights for Theatre New Brunswick, Theatre Lac Brome, Magnus Theatre and Theatre Brockville as well as set designs for Magnus Theatre, Upper Canada Playhouse, Theatre Brockville, Lighthouse Theatre Festival and the Gros Morne Theatre Festival. Since joining the Theatre Department at Grenfell as the Technical Director Jim has designed lights for 24 shows and found time to fill in all the requirements for the BFA (theatre) which was conferred on him in 2007.
