A professional director, Todd has directed for Rising Tide Theatre (Saltwater Moon, Death and the Maiden, Rock and Roll), Theatre Newfoundland Labrador (Corner Green, Of the Fields Lately), the Stephenville Theatre Festival (Noises Off, Stones in his Pockets), the provincial Arts and Culture Centres (Oedipus/Antigone) and C2C Theatre (Parlour Song). Recent productions with Hard Ticket Theatre (Venus in Fur and Constellations) have played to audiences in Corner Brook and St. John's.
An interest in new play development saw the inaugural Cultivate event in Bonne Bay with writer Rory Lambert. Previous dramaturgy includes work with Des Walsh (The Words That Make the Wounded Free, Garland House, Johnny August and The Queen of Swansea), Joan Sullivan (Rose Hoskins), and Gordon Pinsent (Corner Green).
Recent awards include SSHRC/Vice-President's Research Awards, as well as Vice-President (Grenfell Campus) awards.
