Ann-Marie MacDonald's Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) will open at Grenfell Campus on Wednesday, March 29 and run until Saturday April 1. One of Canadian theatre's most popular and celebrated plays, Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) is Ms. MacDonald's feminist love letter to the Bard-- a witty, raucous, and heartfelt tale that will engage Shakespeare lovers and newcomers alike.
Constance
Ledbelly is a brilliant though timid academic, obsessed with deciphering
the original source for Shakespeare's tragedies Othello and Romeo
and Juliet. Through a twist of theatrical fate (or perhaps
just a meddlesome Chorus) she finds herself transported into the worlds of the
plays themselves, meeting beloved characters and altering the narrative. Will
Constance change the course of literary history and discover the true
author of those works? Or will she just leave a trail of chaos in her wake and
forever destroy the stories she so loves?
Showtime is 8 p.m. in the main stage theatre in the Fine Arts building at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors, and they are available on-line or at the box office in the hour before the show.
