  • ENGAGED: Grenfell Campus to launch Co-Curricular Record

    Wednesday, March 3, 2021
    News Releases
    Lori Lee Pike

Soon Grenfell students will be able to capture their volunteer and community work in a Co-Curricular Record.

A Co-Curricular Record (CCR) is an official record of activities that students participate in that complements their academic transcript. A CCR allows students to track their skills and learning experiences outside of the classroom. Such experiences provide students with transferable skills while engaging with communities at Grenfell, in Corner Brook, in Western Newfoundland and around the world.

Grenfell’s CCR program will provide a list of co-curricular opportunities to help students plan their co-curricular engagement throughout their studies.

Students will be able to learn about these opportunities at the Grenfell Campus Co-Curricular Record launch (held virtually) on Tuesday, March 9th at 1:30 p.m. For connection details visit Grenfell.mun.ca/ccr

“The experiences our students will receive by participating in our co-curricular record program are just as important as those they gain through traditional learning,” said Dr. Jeff Keshen, Vice-President (Grenfell Campus) Memorial University. “The experiential learning aspects of this program will ensure we graduate students who are creative thinkers and resilient problem solvers; who understand the importance of social and civic responsibility; who respect diversity and who are team players, exhibiting qualities of leadership and innovation.”

To qualify for the co-curricular record, the activity must address one of more of the following: increase public engagement; produce positive social change; and/or showcase leadership.

“There are a myriad of activities that meet the co-curricular criteria,” said Jennifer Buxton, Regional Engagement and Experiential Learning Coordinator, citing a few examples like campus and community engagement; experiential learning opportunities such as international exchanges; personal and professional development such as workshops or conferences; and student-led initiatives through campus clubs and societies.

To learn more about the co-curricular record, please visit the CCR website at grenfell.mun.ca/ccr.
