With registration underway for Spring 2023 courses, Grenfell Campus is pleased to share that its VirtualGC portal has been updated with "virtual" undergraduate courses that can be taken from anywhere, by pretty much anyone!
"Grenfell prides itself on offering a range of courses with options that appeal to a diversity of learners," said Dr. Ian Sutherland, vice-president, noting the campus commitment to expanding access and flexibility. "VirtualGC showcases the vibrant range of courses available virtually, and we invite students and community members to participate from wherever they find themselves this spring and summer!"
The six virtual courses available in Spring 2023 include three that are fully online, often taught "asynchronously" with lectures not at specific times, and available online for viewing. Three are "remote," where lectures are generally at scheduled times, and can be joined from learners' preferred locations.
"As part of VirtualGC, we help identify general interest courses that can be opened up to the public," noted Kaila Mintz, innovation coordinator at Grenfell Campus. "For this spring, we're delighted to share that Introduction to Psychology 1001 is now available to community members on request."
Other featured courses open to the public include Introduction to Business, Chemistry in Everyday Life, and Environmental Policy. VirtualGC includes resources, including a video tutorial, to help these "non-degree students" navigate the registration process.
Intersession and Spring semester course lectures begin on Monday, May 8. Registration is open for the seven-week Intersession courses until Monday, May 15. Learners have until Monday, May 22 to sign up for courses spanning the full 14-week Spring semester. Non-degree students should allocate additional time for the application process.
