Mindfulness is a science-based practice that helps deal with stress and anxiety. In addition to instruction from Dr. Michael Newton, this informal class will incorporate practice sessions and discussions. You will learn to focus your attention and not be distracted by the past or the future. There is also a webpage to help you practice at home.
Dr. Newton has taught mindfulness to university students for 15 years. This course is based on Jon Kabat-Zinn’s eight week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program, (MBSR). Recent research has shown that, even in a four week course, participants were found to experience a reduction in stress and anxiety and an improvement in their ability to concentrate.
