Grenfell Campus Extended Learning is excited to offer our first Introduction to Mi'kmaw course! Learn to read and write using Smith-Francis Orthography with comparative coverage of other orthographies. Instructor Dean Simon will provide expert instruction, interactive sessions, and print and online resources. Each session will feature a conversation component to give participants experience in greetings and introductory conversations.

About Dean Simon
Dean Simon has recently returned to western Newfoundland after two years of Mi'kmaw immersion in Eskasoni, Nova Scotia.While he does not use the term fluent to describe himself, he is functional in the language and looks forward to practicing with as many people possible. Dean is excited to pass on the knowledge he acquired during his time in Eskasoni.
Born and raised in Bay St. George, NL, Dean is also a Registered Dietitian and aims to incorporate Nutrition Education into Mi'kmaw lessons.
