FAQ

Kids University

What is Kids University?

Grenfell Office of Engagement is excited to be entering its 44th summer of offering summer youth programs, now known as Kids University or Kids U. While each camp is different in style and programming, the Kids U camps highlight education, participation and co-operation in a safe, fun and inclusive environment.  We take pride in providing children, from different backgrounds who share similar interests, with the opportunity to come together to learn and have fun in a welcoming university campus setting.

When and where can I register?

Registration opens May 6, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. You can register online at http://www.amilia.com (credit card only) or in person at Grenfell Campus.

We do not issue full refunds after registration. The deadline to receive 75% of your payment is June 19, 2019. After this date you will only receive 50% of your payment until 5 business days prior to the registered camp. No refunds will be issued for absences from camp; however in extenuating circumstances, such as hospitalization or family emergency, we may be able to work out a form of compensation, provided there is a valid medical note, at the discretion of the program developer. No refunds for missed days will be issued for missed days due to illness, partial attendance or behavioral issues.

Who are the camp counsellors?

Kids University staff are eager, responsible, and highly qualified to lead young children. Counselors have outstanding experience with children, come exceedingly recommended, and make excellent positive role models of the young children at camp. Counselors will at all times have a record of all campers' medical information, emergency contact information and a first aid kit at all times. All members of the staff are trained in the emergency procedures on campus by the head of Campus Enforcement, have attended a presentation on children's allergies and have training from the program developer. All staff have passed a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check. Camp supervision ratios are as follows, 1 counselor per 7 campers (5-8 year olds), and 1 counselor per 10 campers (9-12 year olds). At least one staff member in all camps is certified in First Aid and CPR.
