Responsibilities
Teaching students
with disabilities might seem like a challenging task, but the Learning Centre is here to
help you prepare and equip yourself to accommodate students' special
needs. Faculty and staff are encouraged to:
- review the Policy on Academic Accommodations for Students with Disabilities
- work to accommodate students with disabilities in a manner consistent with the guidelines and procedures that accompany this policy while ensuring academic integrity and standards are preserved;
- work collaboratively with students with disabilities, the Learning Centre staff, faculty colleagues, administration, and other university employees to ensure that approved accommodations are implemented in a manner that protect the student's dignity, as well as their right to privacy and confidentiality; and
- consult with the Learning Centre in responding to requests for accommodations by students who are not registered for disability services.
